Batemans Bay, a small coastal town, two hours south east of Canberra. I first travelled to Batemans Bay when I was 3 months old, it was my families tradition to drive up there every Christmas & also for me birthday. However around the age of 14 I made the representative team for cricket & had to stay down in Melbourne. I’ve stayed in Melbourne for the following Christmas’s since. My grandma has lived there for almost 30 years now & I recently went up to surprise her for her birthday, my first time travelling to the small town in over 8 years. Not much has changed, it all feels a lot smaller to me now then it did growing up. I have a lot of nostalgia attached to so many different places around her house & surrounding area. Something as simple as the smell of my grandmother’s home brought back so many memories & a feeling of happiness.
